About Rowan Arts and Jill Valuet

Once upon a time there was a little girl who loved to draw. She was lucky that her parents encouraged the skill. As she grew older and began to think about what to do with her life, she discovered graphic design and felt that might be a perfect way to express her creativity and still make a living. After an awesome experience in a high school advertising design class, she went on to major in graphic design at Western Michigan University.

Over the years her skills grew and changed until she found a company that she planted roots at. That company was Anchor Bay Entertainment, a movie company shockingly located in Troy, Michigan. (I say shocking because you don’t usually think of the Detroit area when thinking about movie studios.) There she used her skills to create awesome DVD and Blu-ray sleeves and other super cool projects like box sets, ads, and flyers. She even designed displays that could be found in stores like Target, Walmart and Best Buy.

Then, as with all great things, Anchor Bay’s story came to an end. So what was a girl to do? Well she started Rowan Arts LLC to create new and exciting print design opportunities.

That girl is me, big surprise. I’m Jill Valuet. I live in the Detroit area. I’ve been designing for a long time and I still love it. I also love dogs, writing, and traveling, but that’s not why you’re here.

Here are some of the specifics: I design everything using Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop. Some of the awesome projects I worked on are Django Unchained, Spartacus, Weight Watchers™, Thomas the Tank Engine, The Iron Lady, The King’s Speech, Leslie Sansone, The Hateful Eight, Paddington and The Walking Dead. Yeah, seriously fun stuff!
